Tyler has always been fascinated with two things: airplanes and Disney! During his spare time, he would go on Netflix to watch his favorite big-eared mouse on “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.” To be able to finally meet Mickey in person was Tyler’s No. 1 dream!
To keep his mind off of his medical treatments, this 3-year-old keiki would immerse himself in his favorite cartoon shows such as “Pingu” and “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.” Thinking about his wish, Tyler tapped into his imagination and dreamed of experiencing Walt Disney World® firsthand, beyond the TV screen.
The magic for Tyler began with a surprise party, where he first learned that his dream vacation was coming true! Catering to his love for planes, the Pacific Aviation Museum made the perfect place to hold Tyler’s wish reveal party. Surrounded by his friends and family, Tyler was presented with an exciting party topped with gifts and a cake themed after the Disney movie, “Planes®!” At that moment, Tyler was already filled with excitement for his week-long trip to Disney World!
Tyler and his family got to stay at Give Kids the World Village, a nonprofit resort located in Orlando that accommodates families of children with life-threatening medical conditions. It’s a place full of activities and fun such as miniature golf, personal movie theatres, which helps visiting families enjoy their time in a place untouched by the stress of strict medical regimens and doctors.
Beyond the resort, Tyler and his family were surrounded by the magic of Disney, Universal Studios and SeaWorld, where they finally got to unwind, laugh, play and bond as a family over something other than the hardship of Tyler’s medical battle.
The icing on the cake, of course, was finally getting to meet Mickey Mouse for Tyler! He covered Mickey with hugs and kisses and wouldn’t let go of him even when it was time to go! Throughout the whole trip, Tyler would go “whoa” to everything he saw, completely mesmerized by the enchanted adventure and never wanting it to end.
With the joyful memories they gained from the trip, Tyler and his family will go forward with a renewed strength and unity. “It’s something he’ll never forget” said his mom, Lillian. We truly hope this magical memory stays with Tyler forever – reminding him of the power of a wish come true.
