Pink, pink and more pink! Tea party Princess Trishelle loves Disney – envisioning herself beside beautiful princesses brings a sweet smile to her face. Feathers, tiaras and giggles of joy are back as they should be for this 5-year-old darling. She recently experienced a fabulous adventure with loads of fun and fantasy at magical Disney World®!
In July 2013, 4-year-old Trishelle was diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL), a rare type of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. It was an extremely difficult time for her family, but they remained positive and didn’t let it stop them from living their lives.
“Making Trishelle happy and doing things she enjoyed, just to see a smile on her face is what helped me cope, because I felt like as long as she was happy and laughing, everything was going to be okay”, said Trishelle’s mom, Fatima. “We basically tried to continue on and not let this disease change the way we lived each day. We'd still go to the beach, take her to Chuck E. Cheese’s and watch movies.”
But if there was one thing that would make Trishelle smile, it was thinking about her wish! Both Trishelle and her brother were so excited to go to magical Disney World®! “Every morning they looked forward to pulling out a Minnie Mouse picture from the countdown calendar that her wish granters made for her”, said Fatima.
Trishelle couldn’t wait to step into the Magic Kingdom® and meet her favorite Princesses, but like any real Princess, she would first need a royal party to send her off in royal fashion. The Tea Room at The Willows restaurant held an enchanted pink Princess themed bash for Trishelle, complete with pink and purple treats, a specially made tea-pot cake, her own princess sash and much more! Trishelle’s wish granters and entire family came out to celebrate her wish come true! It was an amazing party and the perfect way to send Trishelle and her family off to her wish destination all the way in Orlando, Florida!
After months of anticipation Trishelle was finally there – at the place where dreams come true. But the wait was worth it…Trishelle had the time of her life at Disney World, Universal Studios AND SeaWorld! But her favorite part of the entire trip? “Dressing up like a princess and wearing my Cinderella dress", she said.
While the family was at the Magic Kingdom, Trishelle was able to feel like a Princess for a day thanks to the “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique” where her fairy god mother did her hair, nails and makeup, transforming her into a little Cinderella!
But, this wasn’t the only memorable parts of Trishelle’s wish trip – she even got to feed the dolphins and seals at SeaWorld and watched the Shamu show! For Trishelle’s mom, it was all about seeing her kids smile. “It was DEFINITELY one of the best moments in my life: seeing my kids eyes light up and smile so big whenever they got to meet a princess or a superhero”, she said.
The smiles that come from a wish are simple yet powerful – they are the sparkling gems that come out of a wish experience. The joy and laughter that Trishelle and her family felt on her wish will never be forgotten – it will be what pulls them through life’s challenges both big and small.
