- Crisha, Jacie's mom

When she was just 4 months old, Jacie was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma – a cancer that affects the eyes. Now three, she has lived most of her life seeing through one eye, but that doesn’t stop her from embracing the beauty life has to offer.

Jacie loves Disney. From Disney channel shows that make her laugh and movies like her favorite, “Frozen”, Jacie can’t get enough of anything and everything Disney! So when her wish granters met with her to discover her one true wish, Jacie already had it all figured out. It was to no one’s surprise that she wished to go to Disney World® to meet her favorite characters!

And she didn’t get your normal wish reveal party - Jacie was surprised with a big bash at the Imiloa Astronomy Center on the Big Island. It was a beautiful setting beneath the stars and the perfect backdrop for a dream come true. Many in the local community even came out to support her journey and added some extra “magic” by dressing up as Disney Characters. Jacie was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to take off on her dream trip with her family by her side.

Throughout their stay, Jacie met all of her favorite characters and she never had to stand in line for a ride. She had the time of her life, but each day meant just as much to her family. For them, it was a gift in itself to see Jacie upbeat and beaming with joy.

“She had so much fun there and it continued on after she got home”, said Crisha, Jacie’s mom. Months later, and she’s still talking about the “orange house” she stayed in, the endless ice cream and meeting Princesses Elsa and Anna! Today, this spirited sweetheart is healthy, more playful and cheerful than before. And the experience didn’t just help Jacie, it helped bring her family closer together. “The memories that we have made will be everlasting in our hearts and minds and has sealed our family bond together even tighter than it was before.”

Jacie’s wish was more than just a nice trip, it uplifted her spirits, and continues to give both her and her family precious memories to hold onto forever.

Special Thanks: Disney World®, Give Kids the World Village, Imiloa Astronomy Center, Avis, Do's Formal, Jack's Hawaii Inc., wish granters; Samantha A. Kailihou & Akeamakamae Kiyuna.

The memories that we have made will be everlasting in our hearts and minds and has sealed our family bond together even tighter than it was before. The time we had there not having to have a care or worry in the world felt so wonderful and gave our family the time that we need. ”
