Fifteen year-old Destiny loves to escape into a world of fantasy – the vampires and werewolves from the popular twilight series help her to think beyond her illness and let her imagination run wild!
As an avid Twilight fan, Destiny has read all four books in the series and has watched all of the movies. With the help of Make-A-Wish® Hawaii, Destiny enjoyed a week as an A-lister, unbound from the struggles of living with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She wished to attend the Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiere in Los Angeles, where she would be able to experience the magic of Twilight in person.
Preparations for Destiny’s entrance into Hollywood began even before she left Hawaii. Macy’s Ala Moana presented Destiny with her wish come true—a complete itinerary for her trip - a VIP experience in Los Angeles with front of the line, black carpet passes to the Breaking Dawn Part 2 premier! In order to make sure she was fashion-ready, Macy’s paired Destiny with a private shopper and they picked out the perfect ensemble for her Hollywood debut. To complete the evening, Destiny and her family were treated to dinner at the Pineapple room. Now Destiny was ready to strut down the black carpet with the perfect blend of style and sophistication.
When it was finally time for her wish, Destiny, her best friend Alyssa, and her mother, Jennifer, were whisked away to Los Angeles where she experienced the U.S. premier of this popular cinematic saga. Destiny and her guests were treated to complete makeovers and arrived at the premier in none other than a stretch limo! Like a true superstar, Destiny met with Twilight actors Taylor Lautner and Booboo Stewart! She was ecstatic when Booboo took her phone to snap a picture of them together and when she got a hug from Taylor! The amazing evening was rounded out with the actual screening of the movie and attendance at the after parties.
“It helped her for at least that one day to forget she was sick and almost feel like a normal teen again. I’ve seen her super happy and care-free before, but this was different. I feel it brightened her spirit and was able to enjoy herself without worrying about her illness”, said Jennifer, Destiny’s Mom. “For me as a parent, watching my daughter glow with excitement and happiness was a priceless moment and I am glad I was able to share this experience with her” she said.
The enchanting night was an experience that any Twilight fan could only dream of. For Destiny and her family, it was an experience that they will be able to cherish forever.
