Wish Blog

From A Wish Mom

Sarah Anderson Photography
We are forever grateful to those who made our son’s wish such an amazing experience. His wish was to explore an active volcano and learn from the experts. He thinks that Kilauea is special; more special than any volcano around the world.

Donovan was excited to hear stories about Pele on his wish granted in April 2015 to explore Kilauea. One can see the glow in his eyes when he was talking with the experts. He felt very comfortable being among geoscientists and anyone that wanted to "talk volcanoes and weather."

As parents, this life-changing trip meant a lot to our family. It is a gift that allowed Donovan to be “himself” – a child with aspirations to someday work with volcanoes and its complexities despite his sickle cell disease. When a child has a physical ailment that one does not know when it will exacerbate, the good days are precious.

Mahalo nui loa to every person we met during this trip. Your generosity and time are very inspirational.
