Make-A-Wish® Hawaii was named the nonprofit winner of Hawaii's Better Business Bureau Annual Torch Awards at a ceremony held Thursday, May 21, at the Hawaii Theatre in Downtown Honolulu. This award ecognizes industry excellence and commitment to the BBB's values of Trust, Performance and Integrity.
Torch Award Honorees are chosen by the community through an open nomination period. Then, the BBB Foundation of Hawaii Board of Directors reviews nominations and narrows down the winners in three categories: Public Charity, Advancing Marketplace Excellence, and Excellence in Customer Care.
"The Torch Awards allow BBB to honor the island businesses, charities and individuals who not only exemplify our high ethical standards, but who also seek to serve the people and communities of our island home with authenticity, humility, integrity and aloha," BBB Hawaii states of this annual recognition.
Make-A-Wish Hawaii is humbled to receive this year's award in the Public Charity category, and sends a sincerest congratulations to the for-profit winners: PacRim Marketing Group & PR Tech, and All Island Case Management.
"It is a privilege to carry out our mission of hope, strength and joy, and it is one that we at Make-A-Wish Hawaii hold with great pride,” said Make-A-Wish Hawaii President and CEO Siana Austin Hunt. "This recognition by the Hawaii BBB is a testament to our team’s unwavering dedication to our wish children, their families, volunteers, donors, and supporters."
A special thanks to our community of supporters for entrusting us with the great privilege of granting wishes to children in Hawaii battling life-threatening medical conditions.
