July 12, 2018

HONOLULU, HI- Make-A-Wish® Hawaii’s Young Leaders Board is proud to present the first annual Wine for Wishes, a chic evening poolside party in partnership with ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. The event will take place at ‘Alohilani’s Swell Pool & Bar on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $95 pre-sale and $125 at the door, with proceeds going directly toward granting life-changing wishes for local keiki with critical illnesses. Guests are encouraged to wear their best sunset chic attire.

The Young Leaders Board’s newest event, Wine for Wishes will feature a hosted wine bar, live entertainment from local singer-songwriter Kamuela Kahoano and DJ Keala Kennelly, and five food stations, each carefully paired with a different wine. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a lucky number drawing with the chance to win a two-night stay at ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach valued at $1,000.

The Young Leaders Board works alongside the Make-A-Wish Hawaii board of directors to support the nonprofit’s mission of granting life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. In addition to raising funds, Wine for Wishes will support this mission by serving as an entry point for guests to learn more about community initiatives like Heroes for Hope, a giving society that provides young professionals with networking opportunities and experience in the nonprofit sector.

“Our Young Leaders Board is excited to host this new fundraising event at the beautiful Swell Pool deck,” said Young Leaders Board member Michelle Kaneshiro. “The board's heart for this mission and our local wish kids makes me proud to be a part of such an energetic and moving group of young professionals.”

Make-A-Wish Hawaii and the Young Leaders Board would like to thank the Wine for Wishes event sponsors, including simplicityHR by ALTRES, Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Accumulus, G&C Fleet Services, Hawaii News Now, Healy Plastic Surgery, Ohana Construction, ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits.

About Make-A-Wish Hawaii

Make-A-Wish® Hawaii creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We seek to bring every eligible child’s wish to life, because a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight their illness. Headquartered in Honolulu, Make-A-Wish Hawaii is considered one of the top charities in the state, with 78 cents of every dollar raised going directly toward granting wishes in Hawaii. One of the first local Make-A-Wish chapters established, Make-A-Wish Hawaii continues to be among the busiest in the nation. Together, generous donors, supporters, staff and more than 700 volunteers have granted over 1,300 wishes for children across the state of Hawaii since 1982 and have hosted more than 14,000 others for children around the world; the chapter granted nearly 100 local wishes in 2017 alone, the most in its 35-year history.
