HONOLULU, HI - Seventeen-year-old Leticia of Lahaina, Maui, will soon experience the power of a wish come true thanks to Aloha Petroleum and Lahaina Petroleum, which teamed up to adopt her wish to go to Walt Disney World® with her family. The two companies worked with Make-A-Wish® Hawaii and local Maui wish granters to surprise Leticia with a wish reveal party on Sunday, December 2 at Maui Golf and Sports.
“We are delighted to support Make-A-Wish Hawaii in helping to grant Leticia’s wish,” said Richard Parry, Aloha Petroleum CEO and President. “It was inspiring to participate in this experience, and we couldn’t have done it without the generous donations of our customers who continue to give back to the community through our in-store collection canister program.”
Elizabeth Valentina, CFO at Lahaina Petroleum, echoed Parry’s thoughts on the impact of this partnership within the Maui community, especially for Leticia and her family. "We are thrilled to play a part in granting wishes for kids like Leticia," she said. "We have great appreciation for the dedication of Make-A-Wish, for our collaboration with Aloha Petroleum, and the support of our Maui community in making wishes come true."
Leticia, who is battling lupus, is one of approximately 100 local Hawaii children who will have their wishes granted this year. Research has shown that these wishes can help children build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight their illnesses.
“We are so grateful to Aloha Petroleum and Lahaina Petroleum for their support and heart for wish kids like Leticia,” said Janel Chandler, director of marketing and events and interim CEO at Make-A-Wish Hawaii. “We know this experience will truly be life-changing for Leticia and her family and that they will be forever grateful to their local Maui community for turning this wish into reality.”
