May 18, 2016 (Honolulu, Hawaii) – A two-month campaign at all Zippy’s locations raised over $58,000 to grant wishes for local children through a partnership with Make-A-Wish Hawaii from March through April 2016. The funds were raised in small increments thanks to the entire Hawaii community, who contributed 75 cents for every Kokua Pac, a dollar for every star purchased, and direct contributions at the donation boxes at every location.
“Zippy’s is fortunate to have a very supportive customer base, and employees who are extremely caring and motivated,” said Paul Yokota, President of FCH Enterprises. “This combination with an organization like Make-A-Wish Hawaii and its mission to inspire Hawaii’s children… the results simply speak for themselves.”
All 24 Zippy’s locations statewide participated in the event, with walls covered from floor to ceiling in blue stars, each worth one dollar in support of wishes. Even wish families participated, wishing it forward to other families in need of the healing power of a wish.
“Zippy’s is an invaluable partner,” said Siana Hunt, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Hawaii. “We’d like to thank each and every Zippy’s restaurant for the wishes they have made possible for our wish kids through this annual campaign. Their hard work and the resulting support from our community to grant wishes for local wish children were visually evident at every Zippy’s location, with blue stars twinkling in every direction.”
Every year over 100 local children are diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. With Zippy’s and the community’s support, Make-A-Wish Hawaii is more able to reach each child with the life-affirming power of a wish.
