May 11, 2016 (Kailua, Hawaii) – On Wednesday, May 25, Whole Foods Market Kailua customers will take part in granting wishes for local children with life-threatening illnesses, simply by shopping! From store open to store close, 5 % of the day’s sales will be donated to support the mission of Make-A-Wish Hawaii, to grant the wishes of children who are battling life-threatening medical conditions and to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
“As a business, as a team and as a brand, Whole Foods Market is a healthful and supportive partner in our community, and to be personally chosen by their employees as the recipient of their fundraising efforts is a true honor,” said Siana Hunt, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Hawaii. “This 5 % for Wishes event is an exciting kickoff to a beautiful partnership that will help us reach more kids courageously facing childhood illness and inspire them with the power of a wish, and we’re so grateful to have Whole Foods Market Kailua as a partner to make that happen.”
Whole Foods Market created 5% Days to give back to its local communities by providing support to nonprofit organizations whose programs directly benefit the communities surrounding stores. “We received an unprecedented number of applications this year and it was ultimately our team members who chose Make-A-Wish Hawaii as this quarter’s recipient,” says Marketing Team Leader, Hannah Craft. “It points to the emotional connection our store feels to our greater ohana and we are thrilled to allow our customers to shop for a cause on May 25th.”
Make-A-Wish Hawaii will have a table set up near the entrance to Whole Foods Market Kailua to welcome shoppers and share their mission to grant the wishes of every eligible child in Hawaii with anyone who is interested in learning more.
