Windward Ford of Hawaii and Papa John’s Pizza Hawaii have paired up to launch an innovative fundraiser benefitting Make-A-Wish Hawaii that involves new cars and hot pizza – putting the “fun” in “fundraising.”
From Friday, March 27 through Sunday, March 29, Oahu residents can test drive any Ford vehicle at Windward Ford and the local dealership, in conjunction with Ford Motor Company, will donate $20 per test ride to Make-A-Wish Hawaii. To add to the sweet deal, Papa John’s Pizza Hawaii will give a certificate for a complimentary large 1 topping pizza with each completed test drive.
This local partnership stems from Ford Motor Company’s established fundraising program called Drive 4 UR Community, founded in the fall of 2012 in an effort to support nonprofits and strengthen communities. Benefitting charities of this program can receive up to $6,000.
“We are so grateful that Windward Ford has chosen us as their local charity of choice,” said Make-A-Wish Hawaii President and CEO Siana Austin Hunt. “We are actively planning the wishes of 90 keiki in our Islands who qualify for a once-in-a-lifetime wish, and we couldn’t make these wishes come true without the continued support of our community and local businesses.”
Collectively, Drive 4 UR Community events have raised more than $1 million for organizations in Ford dealerships’ respective communities. Locally, funds raised from this event for Make-A-Wish Hawaii could help fund one wish for a local child facing a life-threatening medical condition, delivering a dose of hope, strength and joy for years to come.
“It’s our privilege to partner with Make-A-Wish and Papa Johns,” said Mickey Vierra, General Manager of Windward Ford of Hawaii. “Through the generosity of Papa John's and the Ford Motor Company, we can make a difference in the community. We hope everyone comes out so we can raise lots of funds, and everyone can enjoy a test drive and a pizza - what could be better?"
"We are once again excited to be able to partner with Make-A-Wish and with Windward Ford to raise some much needed funds and do great things for the Make-A-Wish kids in Hawaii," said Quan Nguyen, President of Papa John's Pizza Hawaii.
