Living the Dream fulfills a young child's Army hopes

From April 24-29, a young man from Springfield, Mo., with the help and support from the Make-a-Wish Hawaii and the 2nd Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Regiment, 25th Division Artillery, 25th Infantry Division, lived his dream of being a part of the U.S. Army. Dylan Warren, 13, was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition, which has deemed him medically unfit for service... and then along came his wish.

Dylan is a soldier through and through, but his medical condition disqualifies him from a future in the military. Make-A-Wish Hawaii gave him the opportunity to enlist in the U.S. Army and live the life of the soldier he should have been.

Orion teen enjoys dream trip to Hawaii through Make-A-Wish


An Orion teen living with lymphoma was granted her wish to visit Hawaii through the Make-A-Wish Hawaii and Illinois programs. Ava, 16, was diagnosed with the blood cancer and has continued to stay active with volleyball and participating in her school’s spirit squad. Her wish was to see clear blue water with her parents and two brothers. The family arrived by limo to the airport before enjoying parasailing, swimming with dolphins, snorkeling and riding ATVs on the island.

Waianae boy with brain tumor gets a four-man canoe


Kaimana, 15, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2014. He says the ocean takes the pain away and now he has a special gift to help with that. His wish to have a four-man canoe help him serve the world as "Jesus' taxi driver," helping to lift the spirits of his community and spread hope, strength and joy to other kids who might be battling childhood cancer as well.

Many wish kids wish to go somewhere or have something that is far removed from their condition, but not Jarod. This wish teen wished for the opportunity to confront the symptoms of his diagnosis head on; by racing in the Ford Island 10K Bridge Run in Hawaii via Make-A-Wish Hawaii.
