- Jarrinn

Local boy Jarrinn is a normal 18-year-old who loves watching football and playing video games with his friends. Looking at him, you would never know that he is a cancer survivor.

Jarrinn, from Wai’anae, is a typical local boy in every way, with one notable exception. ‘Rin’, as his friends call him, struggled with Acute Lymphoid Leukemia (ALL). Despite being diagnosed with this serious illness, Rin is able to remain a strong and hopeful teenager thanks to the support of his close family and friends.

Rin was diagnosed with ALL at the end of May 2013 and has been undergoing aggressive treatments since June 2013. Unfortunately, these treatments kept him confined to his hospital bed for many days, but not without his family and friends by his side.

Rin’s supportive O’hana includes his three sisters, one brother, cousin, and his Mom and Dad. His loving family understands what it is like to face difficult trials, as Rin’s struggle is not the only one in the family that has faced medical challenges in the past. Though taxing, the family hasn’t let these challenges faze them - they remain strong for their beloved son, brother and cousin.

While receiving treatment in the Hospital, Rin discovered his own way to escape the desolation of his hospital room. Watching football with his friends and family is his favorite pastime and helps him get through his days with something other than treatment on his mind. During football season, Rin and his friends tune into his all-time favorite team’s game every Sunday. Watching Peyton Manning and the rest of the Broncos end a game in victory is an indescribable feeling for Rin. Seeing his team make their way through the season and into the play-offs brought Rin out of his hospital room, cheering for his team at Mile High Stadium!

While watching the action live at a Denver Broncos home game at Mile High was on his mind, Rin wanted a wish that he could enjoy again and again -- with his entire family. So instead of a one-time trip to Mile High Stadium, Rin wished for an Alienware laptop, complete with accessories, so he could keep updated on the latest in football news and stats and watch the game highlights on the laptop’s huge gaming screen.

Dave & Buster’s Hawaii threw Jarrinn a grand party! It was all about food, fun, games, and of course, the big wish reveal! Rin was gifted with his Alienware laptop, a new flat screen TV donated by Best Buy, Beats headphones, Beats pill speakers, 2 sets of Turtle Beach headphones, a printer, mouse, router, karaoke machine and an electric ukulele! And as an added bonus, he was also given a Broncos football signed by Denver wide receiver, Wes Welker! Dave & Buster’s even gave him a new X-box 360!

The rest of the day was filled with fun and games with his family and friends. Ask Rin what he spends most of his time doing and he will tell you about the Denvor Broncos, his Alienware laptop and new TV! He’s always in the know when it comes to football, and even though his beloved Broncos didn’t make it to the Super Bowl, his passion for the game hasn’t faded, and probably never will.

Special Thanks: Dave & Buster’s Hawaii, Best Buy, Denver Broncos, Wish Granters; Richard & Lori Vinas, Lee S. Tokuhara
