At just 4 years old, Tisha has been to the doctor more times than she can count. She battles a heart condition called Long QT syndrome, a heart rhythm disorder that can cause fast, chaotic heartbeats. It’s something she will have to deal with for the rest of her life.
“Her days are filled with medical appts, therapies and monitoring her health. What is just normal everyday life to her is not the norm for a child that is healthy…” explains Tisha’s mom, Maureen.
And for Tisha, this norm is not likely to change.
“It means days filled with stress, worry, daring to hope for a bright future, and sometimes the fear of losing a precious child.”
But there is always hope…
“In our particular situation, we have learned so much from Tisha and she has taught us that we need to live each and every day to its fullest. Not worry about the small things that we cannot change and be thankful for the love and blessings we have in our life and family.”
One of those blessings is Tisha’s smile. The infectious sweet smile that always brightens up a room when her favorite Disney character comes on the television – Minnie Mouse! Amidst all the worry, this smile is what gives her family strength. So when Tisha saw Minnie come to life before her eyes at Disneyland, she and her family were overjoyed.
“The highlight was her special visit with Minnie Mouse. Tisha was awestruck when Minnie walked into the room and went right up to her to give her a big hug! She never took her eyes off of Minnie the entire visit…. it was very emotional to see the joy on her face! Minnie made the visit so special and she made Tisha feel like she truly was her best friend!”
In that moment, when Minnie gave Tisha a great big hug, all her troubles seemed to fade away. Her mom, dad and two older brothers weren’t thinking about anything else but how happy Tisha was. The wish was filled with hundreds of other memorable moments, but this one was special. It summed up Tisha’s wish in a few short seconds. As Minnie held Tisha in her arms, she simply smiled as if she had no worries. She was right where she was meant to be, enjoying the magic and wonder of Disney like any other 4 year old would.
