“ I love Disney World. I already miss being there. ”

- Dustin

Eight year-old Dustin loves playing games and watching Disney movies, but there’s one movie that he just can’t get enough of – Toy Story! When his heart condition prevents him from playing outside, Dustin loves nothing more than playing with his beloved Buzz Lightyear!

Like most kids, Dustin loves Disneyland, but when asked what his one true wish was his answer was Walt Disney World! Simply because it is “even bigger and better”, he said.

Every child knows that Walt Disney World is where the magic happens and Dustin was granted his greatest wish; going to Walt Disney World Parks in Orlando, Florida and experiencing true Disney magic – and the Toy Story ride of course!

He and his family had an once-in-a-lifetime vacation staying at the Give Kids the World Village. The resort is catered toward kids with life-threatening medical conditions and is complete with all the amenities an eight year-old could need! From ice-cream deliveries to an on-sight water-slide, Dustin almost didn’t want to leave! The only place more exciting than the resort was Disney World itself. Dustin was thrilled to go on the Toy Story ride to see his favorite character Buzz Lightyear! He also visited Sea World Adventure Park and other popular attractions in the area.

All parks gave Dustin and his family a warm welcome and a VIP experience. For a whole week Dustin was able to think beyond the medical condition he battles every day. His visit to Disney World exceeded all his expectations, “I already miss being there”, he said.

Dustin’s wish trip gave him and his family a new sense of joy and hope, which is the heart of Make-A-Wish; to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Dustin’s wish story is a true example of the positive impact a wish has on a child. “We are very grateful that Dustin’s wish got granted because he went through so much”, his mom, Darcie said.
