Whole Foods Market Kailua Gives 5% to Wish Kids

Dabney Gough, Metro Marketing Field Team Leader of Whole Foods Market Hawaii, and James Donnelly, Hospitality and Development Manager of Make-A-Wish Hawaii.

Wednesday, May 25, was the inaugural "5% for Wishes" fundraising campaign at Whole Foods Market Kailua, where 5% of the entire day’s sales went directly to granting wishes for local keiki. Make-A-Wish Hawaii set up a table at the front of the store for the day, engaging Kailua residents and shoppers in the power of a wish, and even enjoyed a surprise visit by Kailua wish kid Gabriella, who wished for a backyard treehouse, entirely constructed by volunteers in the community.

Shoppers were excited about the Make-A-Wish Hawaii mission to grant wishes for children with serious illnesses across all of Hawaii, some signing up to learn more and all grateful that their regular shopping trip would help to make more wishes come true for local kids like Gabriella who are facing the unthinkable. The 5% for Wishes will hopefully be be the first of many opportunities with the generous community partner, Whole Foods Market Hawaii, to give hope and joy to local wish children in Hawaii.
